Není zvykem, aby Památky archeologické otiskovaly redakční předmluvu. Aktuální svazek však pro lepší porozumění krátký komentář zasluhuje. Letos totiž náš časopis slaví kulaté výročí – 170 let od svého založení, a co je důležitější, také 170 let nepřerušené kontinuity. Nejde tak o událost uzavřenou v minulosti, jejíž výročí bychom si dnes s pietou připomínali, ale o živý a stále se rozvíjející projekt.
Doba, ve které byl v roce 1854 položen počátek našeho časopisu, je v mnohém těžko srovnatelná s tou dnešní. Stejně tak jsou současné Památky jiné než jejich první ročník před 170 lety. Bylo by ostatně nezdravé, kdyby tomu bylo jinak. Co však někdejší časopis s tím dnešním spojuje, je upřímná snaha o kvalitní a srozumitelný obsah. To je patrné, zalistujeme-li v kterémkoli ze 115 dosud vyšlých svazků, jakkoli těžké chvíle se nevyhýbaly ani našemu časopisu.

Editorial

While it is unusual for Památky archeologické to print an editorial preface, the current issue deserves a short explanation for better understanding. This year our journal is celebrating a special anniversary – 170 years since its founding, and more importantly, 170 years of uninterrupted continuity. As such, it is not an occasion completed and isolated in the past, one whose anniversary we could commemorate today with piety. It is in fact a project that is still alive and continuously evolving.
In many ways, the period in which our journal was founded back in 1854 is difficult to compare with today, and today’s Památky archeologické is likewise far different from the first volume that came out 170 years ago. It would be strange if this was not the case. But what actually joins the two distant poles of this lengthy timeline is the sincere effort to ensure the high quality and intelligible content of the journal, which is fully evident when one thumbs through the 115 volumes published thus far, despite the hard times naturally encountered along the way.

Vorwort

Obwohl es für Památky archeologické ungewöhnlich ist, ein redaktionelles Vorwort zu veröffentlichen, verdient die aktuelle Ausgabe zum besseren Verständnis eine kurze Erläuterung. In diesem Jahr feiert unsere Zeitschrift ein besonderes Jubiläum – 170 Jahre seit ihrer Gründung und, noch wichtiger, 170 Jahre ununterbrochener Kontinuität. Daher handelt es sich nicht um einen abgeschlossenen und isolierten Anlass in der Vergangenheit, dessen Jubiläum wir heute mit Andacht begehen könnten. Es ist vielmehr ein Projekt, das noch immer lebendig ist und sich ständig weiterentwickelt.
Die Zeit, in der unsere Zeitschrift 1854 gegründet wurde, lässt sich in vielerlei Hinsicht nur schwer mit der heutigen vergleichen, und auch die heutige Památky archeologické unterscheidet sich stark von der ersten Ausgabe vor 170 Jahren. Es wäre seltsam, wenn dies nicht der Fall wäre. Was die beiden Pole dieser langen Geschichte jedoch tatsächlich verbindet, ist das ernsthafte Bemühen um die hohe Qualität und Verständlichkeit der Inhalte der Zeitschrift. Dies wird beim Durchblättern der bisher 115 veröffentlichten Bände trotz der naturgemäß schwierigen Zeiten deutlich.
