The first volume of a planned multi-volume monographic series is devoted to the history and description of several years of research (1952–2000, especially from the 1980s in connection with the construction of the Temelín nuclear power plant) at one of the most important Early Bronze Age sites, Hosty, located at the confluence of the Lužnice and Vltava rivers in South Bohemia.
In exceptionally well-preserved settlement layers, many thousands of movable finds were discovered, including evidence of metallurgy, stone artifacts, and exotic items attesting to contacts with Northern Europe, the Carpathian Basin, and Northern Italy.
Their processing, evaluation, and the publication of the complete textual, plan, and drawing documentation, along with its digitization (a geodatabase available via a permanent link), were made possible thanks to the project “Makers of the Bronze Age,” funded by the M. Ernée Academic Award for the years 2020–2025.
